THE CARNIVOROUS FOREST
Tumbling from the sky: Twisting & turning until they didn’t know from which way they had come.
Landing softly on hollow, green, tubular plants that bounced as they landed upon them.
As they walked on the plants, they swayed.
It was hard to move without slipping.
They mustn’t slip.
That much was sure.
Holes leading to deep wells of darkness cropped up on each tube. Plant food they did not want to be.
They hadn’t seen enough yet.
Every other aspect of this world looked full of joy, so brightly coloured that the light reflected off each surface.
The black holes, that had seemed
like such insignificant specs initially:
They were to be feared.
